Christine Sullivan-Higgins: President / Founder / Board Member
Christine Sullivan Higgins is the founder and President of Dirt the Skirt Sports Corp. Christine hails from Revere, Massachusetts. Christine began playing baseball at the age of 7, at a time when it was still not “acceptable” for females to play sports. Christine attended Revere High School where she played varsity softball from 1986-1990. During her junior year, Christine was named a Greater Boston League all-star and was awarded the Coaches’ Award during her senior year. After attending undergraduate college at Boston College, Christine attended Suffolk Law School. Christine spent 12 years as an attorney at Goodwin Procter LLP in Boston before becoming a partner at Dalton and Finegold LLP in Andover, where she currently practices. After enduring endometrial cancer in her early 30s, Christine decided to reconnect with her passion for sports, and Dirt the Skirt Sports was born.
Maria Garcia: Board Member
Maria joined DTS in its inaugural season in 2009 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2010. Maria spent her childhood in both Puerto Rico and Lawrence, Massachusetts. Maria began to play baseball at age 7 with boys. At age 9, she began to play softball with women much older than she. She played 3 years of varsity softball and 3 years of basketball for Lawrence High School. During her sophomore year, the Lawrence High School softball team became Merrimack Valley champions. Maria also played for the Puerto Rican national softball team when she was 17. Maria recently obtained an associates in science degree in criminal justice from Middlesex Community College in Bedford, Massachusetts. Maria is an active, enlisted soldier in the Massachusetts Army National Guard and has proudly served overseas to protect our country.
Rebecca Horr: Board Member
Becky joined DTS in 2011. It did not take long before Becky’s enthusiasm, spark and charm got her elected to the Board of Directors. Becky began playing softball at the age of 6 in her home state of Maine. At the age of 12, Becky played in the ASA National Championship. She played 3 years of varsity softball in high school. Becky attended Utica College in New York where she obtained her BS and attended the University of Maine where she obtained her Masters degree in Communications. Throughout college, she played intramural sports. Becky is currently an Account Manager in the technology field.
