Its finally arrived…Opening Day! Bring on the softball ladies!

Believe it or not, opening day is TODAY at the Pines in Groveland. We have games at 1:30 and 3 but the festivities will begin at Noon. We will have three very fun events that anyone can join that will test your skills on the field. Interested participants will each pay $1 to participate in all three fun, skill testing events with proceeds going toward our end of season bash/barbecue. The three events include:

(1) Crush it! - a test of skill to see who can hit the ball the farthest off a tee

(2) Test your aim! – throw through a series of obstacles (a.k.a. hula hoops held by daring volunteers).

(3) Speedy Gonzalez – who can burn up the bases?

Prizes:

(1) Gift certificate for DTS shirt (first place)

(2) $10 voucher for the upcoming DTS store

We will also be starting a 50/50 raffle with the winner announced at the end of the season bash.

We’re all looking forward to a great season. Don’t forget, bring your talent and enthusiasm out to the Pines on Saturday at 11:45 and let’s play some ball!

Assessments were a huge success yesterday. Everyone came ready to play and to have a good time. DTS would like to thank everyone that came out to participate (or help out) yesterday. Teams have now been formed and everyone will receive their team assignments early this week. You will also receive an email from your coach about practice schedules…. So stay tuned! Make sure to come to the clinics this week to help refresh (or learn) your softball skills. They will be held Tuesday and Thursday night at Bagnall School in Groveland starting at 6:30.

If you were unable to attend the assessments on Saturday and are a first time player, please make sure to attend the clinic on Tuesday so that we can assess your skill level and place you on a team.

Come down to Bagnall School in Groveland, MA tomorrow (4/7) at 11am to complete your sign up and participate in our skills assessments. If you haven’t played for a week or since 1990– don’t worry you are not alone. Just show up with your glove and be ready to have some fun!

Registration Blitz Weekend is Here

Dirt the Skirt will be on touring the area this weekend talking to as many ladies as we can about the amazing benefits of the upcoming Dirt the Skirt softball season. If you haven’t registered all ready (why not by the way????), you can show up at the following locations this weekend to submit your registration and start the fun. If you already have registered, make sure to send your sister, mother, friend, or any other woman over 30 our way this weekend.

2012 Assessments are coming!

The date for New Player Assessments has been moved out a bit. We will now be holding them on:

April 7th at 11am at
Bagnall School 253 School Street Groveland, MA

We will be gauging everyone’s skill level in the infield, outfield, and in the batters box so that we can make the teams as even as possible. But don’t worry…this is nothing to be nervous about. Remember… as all of us are over 30 years old, it has been a while since most of us have picked up a bat and ball. Just come out and do your best… and most importantly have fun! Please make sure to be there at least 15 minutes early so that you can stretch and be ready to play your best.

This will be the LAST day to sign up for the season…so COME ONE, COME ALL, new and existing player, if you are interested in playing, this will be your day. See you on the diamond ladies!

Dirt the Skirt Sports is growing!

Dirt the Skirt Sports of Groveland MA is proud to announce that we are expanding to the Andover MA area.

Dirt the Skirt Sports is a 501(c)(4) non-profit corporation organized in Massachusetts in 2009 to provide women ages 30 and over in and around the Merrimack Valley/Southern New Hampshire area a variety of athletic opportunities. From softball to basketball, flag football and floor hockey, women 30 and over join in for fun, fitness and new friends.

Currently registrations are open for softball. To register please go to www.dtssports.com. Registration cost is $65. Assessments will be held for new players on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00 am at the Pines Recreation Park in Groveland . Games will be played in Andover and Groveland.

With the addition of the Andover playing fields, Dirt the Skirt Sports is able to offer women of all levels (from the newcomer to the experienced veteran) in Andover, North Andover, Reading, North Reading, Wilmington, Lowell and surrounding areas in the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire the opportunity to exercise and socialize through participation in women’s sports..

We are “Real Women Playing Real Sports”.

We have now hit mid- February and seen very little snow…. fingers- crossed that this continues and our softball season is right around the corner!

This Saturday and Sunday we will hold registrations at Bases Loaded in Salisbury from 1-3.

Make sure to come in to register as we have decreased the price for this weekend only to $50 for the season!!!

We will also be holding a batting clinic for anyone who wants to get in some early practice before the season begins. Hope to see you all there and before you know it we will all be hearing…. “Play Ball!”

Holiday poundage bothering you? Winter hibernation wearing thin? Then channel your inner Bobby Orr and join us!

DTS Sports Corporation is pleased to roll out its third season of floor hockey. Games will be pick-up style and held on Sundays at 4 pm at the Haverhill YMCA on Winter Street. The season begins on January 29 and runs until April 1. No experience is required . The Y will provide a referee/coach to run the games and assist in skill building. Come join us!

I know that right now we are all freezing and bundled up under our warm clothes while staying in as much as possible….but fear not….spring is right around the corner. And the best part of spring? DTS Slow pitch softball season of course!!!!

Registrations will be held February 11th and 12th this year at Bases Loaded in Salisbury (6 Old Elm Street Salisbury, MA). As we get closer to the date, check back here for the registration times on these dates.

Returning players: make sure to sign up either before or on that date in order to request your team placements. New players: everyone is welcome! We have players from all skill levels. The only requirements to play in this league- you must be a woman over 30. After that….just come and join the fun.
